Industrial Europe has been appointed to conduct a Webcast Auction on behalf of Desoutter Ltd., as a result of the transfer of production from the UK to their other European facilities. (Hilco)

Production at the Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, plant - which has been operating for over 10 years - will cease at the end of February 2009.  Anders Fernell, General Manager of Desoutter Ltd. said, “To operate in the global marketplace we have to focus our manufacturing operations into fewer locations, to give us increased efficiency of production and administration. This transition is being managed over a period of several months to ensure continuity of supply to our customer base.”

Chris Hall, Group Chief Executive Officer of Hilco Industrial said, “We are extremely pleased to have been selected by Desoutter Ltd. to conduct the disposal of their assets from the Hemel Hempstead facility.  The available equipment has been exceptionally well maintained, to the standard expected of an international manufacturer of premium brands. It comprises high volume CNC engineering equipment which will appeal to both the domestic and European markets.”

The assets available are from the modern offices, engineering workshop and production lines. They include: modern CNC turning & machining centres; gear cutting machinery; conventional machine tools; heat treatment equipment; inspection equipment; office furniture and IT equipment.  Many of the production line machines are state-of-the-art and less than 10 years old. All assets are offered to the market immediately.  Interested parties have the opportunity to view the equipment under power by prior appointment.  The sale process will conclude with a Webcast Auction on March 17, 2009.

The 89,000 sq. ft. property, currently occupied by the production and administration departments, is also available for sale or to let.  The extensive space, sited on 3.4 acres, is ideally suited for either factory use or warehousing and is being marketed by Aitchison Raffety.  Ian Archer, Director of Aitchison Raffety said, “This will be an interesting project and we are pleased to be working with Desoutter and Hilco to sell this freehold property.  We are currently speaking with a number of interested parties; however, should the property not be sold or a let-agreement be reached by the end of February 2009, we will be entering the property into the Webcast Auction conducted by Hilco.”

The auction will take place on-site at Hemel Hempstead and www.hilcoind.com on March 17th, 2009, full details available at www.hilcoind.com
